Last weekend saw The Investec Derby Festival a fun-filled, glorious two days. There were fabulous fashions throughout the two days and the style stakes did not disappoint.
Ladies Day saw the main fashion event, I was ecstatic to see so many of my clients enjoying themselves and looking flawless. As Local Ambassador and Milliner for The Epsom Downs Racecourse, I was privileged to take guests with me to Ladies Day to enjoy the brilliant Investec Derby Festival. I wanted Ladies Day to be about women empowering women, each one of my guests is well established and successful in their careers. Ladies Day was the perfect opportunity for them to dress up and have a well-deserved day off!
The lovely Lucy Nichols was part of my all-female guest list, Lucy looked incredible in a River Island Dress channelling Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. The dress worked beautifully with my cream turban and mum-a-porter handbag. This look was so perfect that it attracted coverage from the National Press, Lucy was featured in The Daily Mail, The Express, The Sun and The Evening Standard.
My gorgeous friend Camilla Baines was also in attendance her pearl monochrome look attracted a lot of attention. Camilla wore an elegant black and white striped Karen Millan dress which worked brilliantly with the white pearl detailing in her striking black headpiece. Black and white is a classic look for the Epsom Derby.
My right-hand woman April Tucker looked a vision in a blue Pretty Little Things dress. I teamed the outfit with an eye-catching cobalt blue headpiece “The Elise” from the Spring / Summer 19 Collection. The shoes you can see April wearing are currently available in my boutique designed by the fabulous Dolly Lloyd.
Also, the lovely Rebecca Roberts attended Ladies Day and looked stunning in a Rose Gold Headpiece from my Floral Collection. Rebecca's beautiful Boohoo dress and clutch created a timeless beautiful look and she tied the whole look together with her sandals from Miss Guided.
When we arrived at Ladies Day we were met with much excitement from the press. The morning went by in a whirlwind of photo shoots and I was lucky enough to recreate some of my favourite photos from the years before. These photos were printed in the National Press and I couldn’t be more proud!
After the brilliant photoshoots, we enjoyed some delightful bubbles courtesy of Moet in The Moet and Chandon Terrace. This terrace is a brand new exclusive area for Epsom and one I would highly recommend. A DJ throughout the day, great views of the finishing line, huge comfortable sofas. It was very Ibiza chic, a great addition to the Epsom Downs Racecourse!
It was here that I was able to take in the fantastic event that is the Investec Derby and relax. These blissful moments are the highlight of my year.
The afternoon brought with it more delights as I was interviewed by the lovely Jo Good for BBC Radio London, for this interview we discussed my choice of outfit for Ladies Day. It was an absolute pleasure speaking to Jo, I wanted to say massive thank you to her team for making me feel so welcome and at ease!
I was also interviewed by the great team at BBC Surrey and BBC Sussex. For this interview, I discussed my outfit as well as my process for finding the perfect hat or headpiece. The final 10 minutes before the entries closed to the style awards I was asked to speak on the on-course TV talking about the prizes the best dressed could win. I also discussed my process behind Hayley's outfit, this year I chose to style her in a beautiful Chi Chi London dress.
As you may all be aware, if you follow my Instagram, I had a few dress mishaps in the lead up to the Day. This beautiful fuchsia number saved the day! I found it very last minute from an online boutique. The shocking pink colour worked perfectly and caught the eye of many, I teamed the dress with a black and fuchsia headpiece covered in flowers and my signature butterfly.
Fashion followed in the afternoon with the fantastic Style Awards, the Style Awards winner Charlie Chayse looked super chic in an all-black ensemble. As part of her winnings, Charlie won a bespoke consultation and headpiece designed by me as well as a year supply of Chi Chi London Outfits and a lovely seven-night stay in Mauritius for two, including flights. What a prize!
The day finished with more champagne and a bit of dancing, it really was a successful Ladies’ Day and I think the headpieces went down a treat!
