I want to start this blog post with a huge thank you to everyone that attended and helped at my launch event on Thursday night of my Spring / Summer 19 Collection. The week rushed by in a whirlwind trying to get the shop ready for the launch and transforming it into a full hat boutique and I couldn’t have done it without everyone!

The Transformation

In the boutique, we have created a full hat hire room, full of off the peg pieces in a rainbow of colours to create the perfect outfit for any summer event.  We now have a fantastic room dedicated to getting you ready for the races with our headpieces and the fabulous rainbow shoes which can be dyed to any colour you need, creating the perfect look.

The Event

The New Spring / Summer 19 Collection

Floral Collection 2019

The Turban Collection 2019

On the ground floor we set up a showcase of my new collection, there was a display of ‘The Floral Collection, Turban Collection, and Wire Collection. We wanted to create the perfect display highlighting what are my key looks for the upcoming summer season. With this new collection, I could see stronger styles developing. I moved away from my original shapes and focused on new angles and dimensions.  I created my own take on what I see as a key trend of the summer ‘the headband’ and created a gloriously coloured turban which can either be worn every day or as part of a smart classic outfit for an occasion, these turbans will add the perfect pop of colour.

 The Gallery, this hat took pride of place, my headpiece from the last derby to commemorate the Ten Year Anniversary of the Investec Derby.

I wanted to showcase the pieces that had been the most memorable to me over the past years so I created a gallery upstairs highlighting these hats and telling the stories behind them. We focused on recreating the looks from these events, to give the real racing experience. Also in this gallery, we had a little treat for our lovely guests we collaborated with the Glorious Gin Kitchen and the sensational Picky Bits Catering, a master in grazing boards. It was such a treat.

After our guests took in the new collection, we took them upstairs to the gin experience, where the guests were treated to a tasting of three of the Glorious Gins! First up was the Dancing Dragontail Summer Gin. The gin was created with inspiration in mind from the small understated butterfly native to the Cardamom Mountains of Cambodia. It has a light fresh juniper from Kosovo as the base, with a kick of aromatic green cardamom and uplifting citrus notes from pink grapefruit. The gin has a gorgeous sweet, warm mouthfeel. A key feature of this fantastic gin is the beautifully hand painted bottle, covered in fantastic images of not only the butterfly but also the botanicals. Next was the Gutsy Monkey Winter Gin, which I found to be a more indulgent treat. This gin is a full-bodied, rich and smooth spiced. You can really taste the earthy tones from the Croatian juniper and it is followed the crisp notes of the fresh lime and the warming tones of the Cumin. A real treat was the Blushing Monkey Pink Gin, it really is a spectacular drink and turns into the most beautiful shade of pink creating the perfect pink elixir!

@theginkitchen

It was such a treat to have The Gin Kitchen at the Launch, it really added to the evening. The Gin Kitchen currently hold tastings at their distillery at Punchbowl Lane Dorking. You will be treated to a talk on the process of distilling and you will get to taste their fabulous flavors. There is even a chance to distill your own gin, they even offer you a few food options as tasting gin can quickly work up an appetite. Gin Kitchen is stocked all around the country and I would highly recommend getting yourself a bottle or two!!

A Glorious Grazing Board @pickybits

We also had another incredible collaboration at the event. Picky Bits, set up by the lovely Danielle. Her grazing board was absolutely scrumptious! They really had the wow factor and there was something for everyone on the platter! The grazing board has taken the buffet to a whole new level, through not only displaying the exquisitely placed food together but also adding a fantastic decorative aspect! I was so pleased that Danielle agreed to work with me for the event, I’m all about working with other local businesses and we really wanted to showcase the talent that is outside London and I really do think we made Ewell the place to be that Thursday night!

Such a brilliant mix of flavors and the display really added to the sophistication of the night! @PickyBits

If you have any events coming up this summer, look too Picky Bits for your catering it really will add the perfect feature to any celebrations. Contact Danielle at hello@pickybitsfood.comfor a brilliant addition to any party!

It really was a fantastic night, I hope to create more exciting events over the coming year for you guys and I really want to focus it around the Epsom/ Ewell area, there are so many exciting things happening outside the big city. With so many creatives living the local area I want to put on more events to celebrate all the fantastic talent that is in Surrey.

 Celebrating with guests! I couldn't have done it without you!

I couldn’t have done this event without the help of my team and I am so thankful to them and also to my fantastic clients who buy my hats, this event was really a celebration of you and I couldn’t have got this far without you lovely people.
