It’s that time of year again, the planning for the new year has begun at the shop and we’re are set for a fantastic year. But before diving into the new year ahead I wanted to reflect and update you on the highlights of 2018.
My 2018 Highlights
Jessica Rea Millinery was off to an exciting start...
At the beginning of the year, I had the privilege of working with the lovely Abigail Scott Ladies Day Winner 2017, and Epsom Race Course to create a film with all my hints, tips and tricks on the dos and don’ts of racing- very skillfully filmed by Adam Plowden.
A while later I had the privilege of speaking at a private ladies lunch event at the RAC.
I spoke to over 400 women about hats, styling, and racing and even shared a few of my top secret race style tips. It was a truly exciting event! Just before race season began I was invited back to hold a fashion show. I used the local Epsom Horse Trainers beautiful wives as my models, it really was a truly stunning affair. I couldn't be more thankful to the RAC for giving me these opportunities throughout the year and I would love to work with them again.
My splendid summer
Summer is always such a busy time for me but those late nights and long days really worked their magic! The Epsom Derby passed by in a whirlwind of interviews and champagne but I enjoyed every blissful moment of it. One highlight was the personalized honorary badge I received from Epsom Race Course for being an Ambassador.
The magic carried on through to Derby Day my hats were featured in the Telegraph, Hello! Magazine and Lorianne! I was lucky enough to be chosen to design a hat for the elegant Vogue Williams for the Official Epsom Shoot featured in Hello! Magazine.
My summer didn’t slow down after The Epsom Derby, a few weeks later I was lucky enough to attend Ascot with the brand Closet, being chosen to create headpieces for the head designer of this brand was brilliant!
The unbelievable moments from Ascot didn't end there, I styled the fabulous on course presenter Hayley Moore who was featured wearing a different one of my hats every day!
Fast forward a few weeks and I was off filming again with Adam Plowden, this time for Sandown Race Course and The Great British Hockey Team creating a How to Guide for Sandown Racecourse Ladies! It was all change at the store
Finally, the signs above my store changed officially to Jessica Rea Millinery, this was an extremely proud moment in which I did shed a tear or two. It felt like a dream come true!
A nice end to the year
The end of the year came with a huge surprise - I won the ‘Best Women in Business Award’ I’m still in a little bit in shock about this. I would be nowhere without my mum (Angela) who most of you know works very closely with me day to day. So here’s to you mummy, we did this together!
The year ahead
The start of the year has already gone with a bang, I have a new team behind me and I am set to make this year the best it’s ever been!
I have a stunning new collection in the works for the next season and so many things in the pipeline. We are planning on attending more races than last year and we can’t wait!
